Overview
Sets up and operates aluminum tube mills by performing the following duties and responsibilities:
* Efficiently start up tube mill and all auxiliary equipment.
* Ability to monitor and adjust tube mill and all auxiliary equipment for maximum efficiency and productivity.
* Follow tube inspection procedures.
* Preventative maintenance on tube mills. Notify department supervisor when regular maintenance is necessary.
* Knowledge and use of safety and personal protective equipment required of everyone working on the tube mill.
* Cleanliness of tube mill and housekeeping of surrounding area.
* Training and ongoing evaluation of Roll-End Operator Capabilities.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications

* Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively give instructions to the Roll-End Operator.
* Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, circumference and volume.
* Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply understanding to carry out instructions given in written or oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
* Physical Demands: Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to perform various job duties, and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. Must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Specific vision abilities include close and distance visions, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
* Work Environment: Employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The noise level is usually loud.
* Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to perform required quality testing procedures. These procedures may include hardness testing, measuring for length and diameter, and bend and expansion testing. Checking for straightness of tubing and weld seam strength is also required.
