Contracts Manager – Civil Engineering (Energy Division) – Southampton
We’re currently recruiting for an experienced Contracts Manager to join a growing Energy Division, supporting a strong pipeline of critical infrastructure projects across the UK.
This is a senior delivery-focused role overseeing a portfolio of major civil engineering schemes, predominantly within substation and/or compressor station environments.
The position will be based out of the Southampton Head Office, with weekly site visits. A typical week will consist of 2 days in the office, 2 days on site and 1 day working from home.
The Role
Reporting to the Framework Manager, responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

Overseeing up to 3 projects at any one time

Working closely with the Head of SHEQ to ensure the highest safety standards, environmental compliance and quality performance
*
Managing and supporting Project Managers, providing guidance to ensure delivery excellence
*
Providing strong commercial and programme support across all projects
*
Working with the Bid team and leading tender activity for projects within the Energy Division
*
Driving innovation and ensuring compliance across all contracts
*
Collaborating closely with commercial, design, planning and site delivery teams
*
Acting as key client interface, attending regular meetings and reporting on design and project completion timelines
*
Producing effective monthly reporting to the Framework Manager
Requirements
To be considered, you will need:
*
BEng / HND in Civil Engineering (essential)
*
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Contracts Manager role (essential)
*
Working knowledge of the NEC suite of contracts
*
Proven track record delivering large-scale civil engineering projects
*
CSCS card
*
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites nationwide
*
Substation project experience (advantageous but not essential)
Desirable Skills / Qualifications
*
Chartered membership of a relevant professional institution (desirable)
*
Strong written and verbal communication skills (essential)
