What skills and experience we're looking for Main Purpose of the Role
To support the inclusion and progress of pupils with additional needs, ensuring they have every opportunity to thrive and succeed
To provide targeted 1-1 support for various children throughout the day, both inside and outside the classroom
To work collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment Key Responsibilities
Work 1-1 with identified children, supporting their learning, well-being and social development
Assist in delivering tailored interventions and adapting activities to meet individual needs
Support children in classroom activities, group work, and during transitions around the school
Help children to develop confidence, independence and positive relationships
Monitor pupil progress and share observations with teachers and relevant staff
Work with teachers to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies
Provide support during unstructured times, such as break and lunch
Liaise effectively with staff, parents/carers, and outside agencies as required
Uphold the school’s policies, including safeguarding, inclusion and behaviour
Contribute to a positive, inclusive and safe learning environment Person Specification Qualifications and training
Good standard of general education, including English and maths GCSE (or equivalent)
Relevant qualification or training in supporting children eg TA level 2 or 3
Willingness to undertake further training as required Experience
Experience of working with primary-aged children, ideally in a school setting
Experience of supporting children with additional needs on a 1-1 basis (desirable) Skills and knowledge
Understanding of child development and the barriers to learning some children may face
Ability to adapt support to meet individual needs
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work as part of a team and independently
Awareness of safeguarding procedures and the importance of confidentiality Personal qualities
