Deputy Sister/ Charge Nurse - Acute Cardiac Unit

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Acute Cardiac Unit for a Deputy Sister or Deputy Charge Nurse to join our dynamic friendly team. We have a permanent post and a maternity cover post available.
The Acute Cardiac Unit is a 29 bedded Acute Cardiac Ward. We specialise in the care of patients with a wide range of cardiac conditions requiring acute care, treatment and intervention.

For the maternity cover post, internal applicants currently employed by ESNEFT will be offered a secondment only.

Main Duties
- Provide high quality, individualised nursing care to patients and their parents/carers as an effective member of the inter-disciplinary team.
- Develop clinical and managerial skills by taking charge of the ward in the absence of the Ward Manager.
- Contribute to the supervision, assessment and education/development of ward staff and students.
- Contribute to the continuing development of nursing practice through research and audit.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse
- ENB 998 or equivalent
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- Preceptorship module
- Degree level qualifications or willingness to work towards a degree
Experience
- Proven experience in nursing and delivering evidence based practice
- Experience in other fields of nursing
- Involvement in change management
Knowledge and Skills
- Awareness and understanding of current patient safety initiatives
- Knowledge of current practices and trends within nursing
- Good knowledge of infection control procedures/initiatives
- Awareness of current issues within health and nursing
- Awareness and understanding of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and the Mental Capacity Act
