The role: English teacher

Are you looking for a school where your passion for education is truly valued?

As we raise the bar for education, your passion for English can ignite minds, build confidence, and help every student find their voice. In our inclusive community, every story counts—and your next chapter could help shape theirs.

About the role
As an English teacher with us, you will play a pivotal role in shaping young minds and fostering a love of language, literature, and communication. You’ll inspire students to express themselves confidently, think critically, and appreciate diverse perspectives. In our inclusive and supportive environment, you’ll help every student—regardless of background or ability—find their voice and achieve their potential. By joining our dedicated team, you’ll contribute to a culture where progress is celebrated, and every story truly matters.

Message from the Head of Faculty
We are a team of six, led by Tamzin Faull (HofF) and Michelle McKeeman (DepHofF). We support each other to be the best versions of ourselves we can be, in order to drive our already successful department to even greater things.

We have an open culture where we have honest and supportive professional conversations about how we can continuously improve as individuals and as a team. Everyone in the team has a voice, and we believe it is by pooling our skills and enthusiasms that we will move forward dynamically.

You will be welcomed into the team - supported, challenged and nurtured in your career development. If you are a dynamic, reflective practitioner who is keen to contribute to the progress of the department and the school, we will welcome your application.

What makes us special
What sets our school apart is our unwavering commitment to both excellence and inclusion. We are a vibrant, forward-thinking community where every student is valued, supported, and encouraged to thrive—regardless of their background or starting point. Our recent progress in raising educational standards is matched by our dedication to creating a welcoming environment where difference is celebrated and every voice is heard. Here, staff and students work together to build confidence, nurture talents, and ensure that everyone feels a true sense of belonging. By joining us, you’ll become part of a team that believes in the power of education to transform lives and in the importance of making that transformation accessible to all.

We’re looking for someone who:

1. Has high expectations for all students and is passionate about helping them achieve their best.
2. Values teamwork and is eager to contribute to the wider life of the school community.
3. Is reflective, open to feedback, and committed to developing their own practice.
4. Would love to join a dedicated staff team who are committed to improving the quality of education across our school.
5. Enjoys being around children and is committed to safeguarding.
6. Brings a positive attitude and a genuine love of school life.

In this role you will:

7. Plan and deliver engaging English lessons that inspire a love of reading, writing, and discussion.
8. Assess student progress regularly and provide feedback that helps them move forward.
9. Work closely with colleagues to enhance and refine our seven-year curriculum and share best practice.
10. Contribute to creating a positive learning environment where all students feel valued.
11. Take part in wider school life, including enrichment activities and extra-curricular opportunities.
12. Play an active role in supporting the school’s commitment to raising achievement for all.

We offer:

13. A role where your work really matters and we listen to your voice.
14. The opportunity to work in an established team who are invested in growing the potential of others and who are committed to continuous improvement.
15. 121 coaching.
16. Ongoing professional development.

We’re totally committed to the safeguarding and welfare of all our pupils, and we expect you to be too. We follow safer recruitment statutory guidance (Keeping Children Safe in Education). If you’re successful, you’ll be required to complete thorough pre-employment checks, including an Enhanced DBS check and references that are satisfactory to our Trust. All posts in our Trust are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974.
