Dumfries & Galloway Council are looking for employ an enthusiastic, experienced, and skilled Mechanical Clerk of Works with an electrical bias to be part of the Property, Estates and Programmes team.
Role and Hours
This post is for 36 hours per week.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Knowledge of electrical works, processes, trades and techniques is essential.
* Significant post-qualification experience in a relevant role, experience of building/property maintenance as well as significant experience as Foreman/Chargehand on various construction projects.
* Sound knowledge of building and construction works, processes, trades and techniques.
* Must be able to monitor, record and report the progress of electrical services works throughout the council’s estate.
* Good communication skills, ability to deal sympathetically but firmly with all stakeholders, be firm but fair with contractors and be able to interpret drawings, specification, and bills of quantities in both electronic and paper format.
* A current driving licence is an essential requirement; consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged if you do not have a licence.
Regulatory and Vetting
* This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
* Applicants who have been outside the UK within the last 5 years will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were located, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check.
