Job Summary

We are seeking two Senior Clinical Fellows in Urology with an interest in Pelvic Oncology to complement the existing team at MSE Hospitals, with Southend Hospital as the base site. Our Urology Service has been given the exciting opportunity to expand across all three sites and support our growth in referrals while building on our fantastic team.


Role Purpose

The role will provide dedicated Pelvic Oncology training, including robotic assisted laparoscopic prostatectomies (RALPs) with our two Da Vinci robots, and will take responsibility for day‑to‑day management of Pelvic Oncology patients in Urology. These posts aim to provide and coordinate an effective cancer Urology service, develop a sub‑specialty interest that complements the department, and take part in all departmental activities including on‑call rotation, audit and teaching.


Key Responsibilities

* Assist Pelvic Consultant Surgeons in the provision of Urological services.
* Support clinics—new and follow‑up urology clinics for pelvic cancer patients.
* Participate and be trained in major urological procedures, including RALPs with our Da Vinci robots.
* Undertake daily ward rounds and support the team of junior doctors and consultants with pelvic patients.
* Play a contributory role in departmental research, audit, quality improvement projects and teaching, and lead research projects under consultant supervision.
* Participate in Pelvic On‑Call rota.


Qualifications

* MRCS Part 1 and Part 2
* Full registration with the General Medical Council
* Full or equivalent fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (desirable)
* Higher degree (desirable)


Experience

* Core trainee or SHO experience in Urology
* Proven experience as a middle grade in Urology
* Operative experience in pelvic surgery
* Motivation to achieve defined targets and undertake relevant research (desirable)


Other Requirements

* Interest in medical audit and understanding of evidence‑based audit principles.
* Understanding of clinical governance principles.
* Ability to motivate and develop junior doctors and staff.
* Disclosure and Barring Service check.


Salary and Contract

£73,992 per annum (pro‑rata for part time), fixed‑term contract of two years, full time.


Location

Southend, Prittlewell Chase, Westcliff‑on‑Sea, SS0 0RY.
