Band 3 Facilities Team Leader

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, driven and dynamic person to join our fast‑paced Facilities Team as one of our Team Leaders.
The successful person will be integral in delivering the day‑to‑day operational service requirements for the Facilities Department, which covers Housekeeping Services and Portering Services.
The Facilities Department plays a vital support role to all University Hospitals Birmingham Trust patients and service users, ensuring that patient care and experience is at the fore front of what we do.
The Hours of work are based on a 4-week rotating shift pattern, working 30 contracted hours per week, with the option to work additional hours on Bank when and if required. The shifts are a mix of 7am – 1pm, 8am – 2pm & 4pm – 10pm (no nights). All shifts will be worked and based at Solihull Hospital.
The post holder will have to demonstrate out Trust values of Kind, Connected & Bold daily, and be a caring and compassionate person, that our patients need.
Main duties of the job
* Support the delivery of an effective Housekeeping & Portering service.
* Ensure staffing levels are maintained in both services, by completing weekly and daily rotas, and linking in with the management team to arrange additional Bank shifts for staff.
* Support staff members with yearly appraisals, mandatory training and booking annual leave.
* Use internal software packages.
* Support and maintain high standards of cleaning, adhering to the NHS national cleaning standards 2025.

Qualifications
* Basic Education to GCSE level – including Maths and English qualifications (E)
* Trained or willingness to undertake training in a competence qualification in cleaning, infection control and / or support service by an awarding body, NVQ or equivalent. (E)
* Heartlands, Solihull and Heartlands Hospital Only:
* Willingness to achieve Level 2 Cleaning qualification or equivalent (e.g. National Vocational Qualification NVQ or certificated British Institute of Cleaning Science qualification (BICs) (E)
* Solihull and Heartlands Hospital Only :
* Certified in or a willingness to achieve Level 2 Supervising Food Safety in Catering (E)
* Certificate in First Line Supervisory Management or willingness to achieve Certification. (D)
Experience
* Knowledge of the NHS Cleaning Standards (E)
* Knowledge of health and safety (E)
* Knowledge of COSHH (E)
* Knowledge of the NHS policies, health and safety, risk management and payroll (E)
* Formal Management Training (D)
* Knowledge and understanding of equality and diversity issues (D)
