Job Overview
Are you an enthusiastic colleague willing to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team* to provide fresh, cooked, nutritional meals for service users and assist with laundry for less able residents within the houses.

Main duties of the job
* Patients receive a choice of food, snacks, and drinks at meal times and on request.
* Linen and suitable clothing are readily available.
* Coordinate with other services to facilitate smooth ward operations.
* Report damages to fixtures and fittings to the Nurse in Charge.
* Display and act upon hazard warning notices.
* Work within a multidisciplinary team including nurses, doctors, therapists, pharmacists, domestic staff, volunteers, social workers, and rehabilitation support workers.
* Uphold the Trust values of Compassion, Respect, Empowerment, and Partnership in interactions with staff, patients, families, and visitors.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Support with meal prepping
* Respect patients' choices and promote individuality and self-identity within safe boundaries.
* Assist patients in choosing their meals for the week.
* Prepare and cook meals for those unable to cook themselves.
* Order, store, and rotate food to reduce wastage.
* Serve food, snacks, and drinks to service users.
* Stay up-to-date with mandatory food hygiene training.
* Ensure meals meet cultural needs of service users.
* Orientate patients and relatives to the ward.
* Follow instructions from nursing staff and other team members, e.g., speech therapists, dieticians.
Supplies
* Label and date stored food in the fridge; discard after 24 hours if not used.
* Order and maintain adequate food supplies.
* Maintain ward stock levels as determined by Ward Managers.
Privacy and Dignity
* Be sensitive to individual and cultural diversity needs.
Control of Infection
* Follow hygiene rules per NICE guidelines and dispose of contaminated equipment properly.
Health and Safety
* Check and record food temperatures as delegated.
* Use equipment according to policies.
* Participate in mandatory training and adhere to policies.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential: Broad education, health & safety, infection control, food hygiene, manual handling training.
Desirable: NVQ in Hotel Servicing.
Experience
Essential: Experience in similar settings, team working.
Desirable: Experience with older adults and multicultural populations.
Skills and Abilities
Essential: Communication, social understanding, initiative, teamwork, organization, flexibility, commitment to learning.
Desirable: E-mail access, keyboard skills.
