Our client based in Kettering is looking for a Financial Controller to join their team.
As a senior accounting controller, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities, ensuring compliance, and providing financial advice to management. The role includes maintaining accurate record-keeping and compliance with accounting standards and regulations. Responsibilities also involve budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning, contributing to the company's overall financial health. You will report directly to the CFO. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual who enjoys working in a dynamic and diverse business environment, with potential for progression to Financial Director in the future. The role may require occasional travel to Europe.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements for the group and year-end results.
2. Compliance: Ensure adherence to accounting standards.
3. Internal Controls: Oversee and develop internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure record integrity. Check costings and ensure correct invoicing. Reconcile bank statements.
4. Budgeting and Forecasting: Manage the preparation and analysis of budgets and forecasts to support strategic decision-making.
5. Financial Planning and Analysis: Analyze financial data, identify trends and variances, and provide insights to improve performance. Prepare monthly cash flow reports.
6. Working with External Auditors: Support and provide documentation during audits.
7. Tax Compliance: Oversee tax preparations or liaise with external tax accountants to meet tax obligations.
8. Communication and Collaboration: Communicate financial information clearly to management, CFO, and group CFO.
9. Strategic Contribution: Contribute to the development of financial strategies and policies.
Typical Skills and Qualifications:
* Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; Industry NVQ.
* Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in accounting or financial analysis.
* Proficiency in Sage, Excel, and financial reporting tools.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills to manage a team.
* Knowledge of French is desirable but not mandatory.
