12 month contract – Inside IR35
Pay: £40.49 per hour umbrella (non local rate) / £29.63 per hour umbrella (local rate)
Work arrangement: 2 days per fortnight on site – the rest remote
Senior Designer
* Applies understanding of a range of design processes, tools, systems and techniques, and applies these to design or detail for assemblies, components or systems.
* Designs and develops solutions to common or well‑articulated design situations, problems and issues.
* Works under limited technical supervision.
* Functional Knowledge – Requires understanding of design principles and approaches relevant to design activities and depth of knowledge relevant to a specialist area.
* Business Expertise – Good understanding of how own activities integrate into the design team; limited knowledge of other teams' activities.
* Leadership – Responsible for own work quality and safety; may perform on‑the‑job training of new team members.
* Problem Solving – Makes judgements based on own knowledge; assesses viability and applicability of solutions.
* Nature of Impact – Limited impact to own work; must produce high‑quality work reviewed by others.
* Area of Impact – Responsible for quality and timely delivery of own work; directly impacts overall solution quality.
* Interpersonal Skills – Good communication; can understand technical instructions and communicate technical information.
Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications
* Applies proven techniques and procedures to design and develop solutions.
* Resolves design issues and problems for a range of design situations.
* Diagnoses and resolves operational, repair, installation and commissioning problems.
* Typically coaches and mentors other design engineers; uses interpersonal skills to communicate technical design matters.
* Works with a degree of technical autonomy; demonstrates commitment to professional design engineering principles and values.
* Requires knowledge and experience in a design subject area.
* Develops and produces models, drawings and other design outputs consistent with contractual requirements to meet target dates and budget demands.
* Performs self‑verification of own tasks to ensure completeness and quality; arranges checking of work by appropriate team members.
* Answers technical queries about their work within their level of knowledge and competency.
* EngTech status (or equivalent) plus relevant work‑based experience.
