Assists the department in the clerical aspects of preparation for patient meal service through accurate menu processing and assisting patients with menu selection.
Responsibilities
1. Processes Room Service customer orders using the HealthTouch computer system, including patient/family initiated orders and those patients needing assistance.
2. Assists patients with telephone call backs or personal visits as needed while ensuring adherence to all diet orders.
3. Reviews computer printouts to identify patients who have not placed an order for the meal period and initiates contact accordingly.
4. Documents the number of meals served daily. Takes phone calls and faxes orders for all food requests.
5. Receives requests for diet changes via computer, fax, or written formats during downtime.
6. Makes necessary diet changes, updates the 'Enter/Edit' computer screen and Room Service order system, following standard procedures for diet patterns.
7. Coordinates processing of AM and PM nourishments orders and prints nourishment labels.
8. Processes orders for patient-requested nourishments and coordinates delivery of tube feeding and oral supplement orders.
9. Uses customer service skills in all patient or customer interactions.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications and Specifications
* High School Diploma or equivalent required.
* Minimum of 2 years of related experience and basic computer skills required.
* Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
* Knowledge of normal and modified diets, carbohydrate counting, and protein exchange systems preferred.
