An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Ophthalmic Photography Technician to join the busy team within Ophthalmology, to provide a comprehensive diagnostic Ophthalmic photography service to patients served by the Trust.
The successful candidate will undertake a wide range of duties with respect to ophthalmic photography for the ophthalmology department, in accordance with the needs of the Trust.
You will be expected to deliver an efficient, professional, skilled and broad range of technical services for the ophthalmology department using a wide range of equipment. You will undertake your own workload of patients and maintain associated records and mentor junior staff where required. The post holder will be expected to attend additional training when required and maintain CPD.

Main duties of the job
* The photography of patients for glaucoma monitoring within agreed timescales to specific Consultants.
* To work autonomously (following completion of competencies), and to be responsible for completing own caseload in required timescale.
* Provide an explanation to the patients of the specialist procedures they are undertaking.
* Colour fundus macula photography using specialist equipment.
* Optical coherence photography of patients using Optical Coherence Tomography camera.
* Digital Fundus Auto Fluorescence Macula Photography of patients retina using specialist imaging equipment.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Skills – Essential
* A good standard of general education including Maths and English GCSE at grade level A‑C (or new equivalent)
* Knowledge equivalent to relevant NVQ Level 3 training
* 2 years clinical experience working within Ophthalmic Photography (or relevant Medical Photography experience) – evidence required, or recent NHS experience working in a relevant clinical field
Qualifications and Skills – Desirable
* IMI membership
* HND or equivalent qualification in photography
Clinical Experience and Effectiveness – Essential
* Computer literacy including knowledge and experience using photo manipulation and graphics software e.g. Adobe Creative Cloud on PC and/or MAC
* Ability to use a range of ophthalmic imaging equipment
Clinical Experience and Effectiveness – Desirable
* Experience of research and audit
