An exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Community Occupational Therapist has become available in Chesterfield Older Adult Community Mental Health Team.
Main duties of the job
We are an experienced and professional team, dedicated to the goal of providing excellent care for the Older Adult population in Central Chesterfield.
As a team, we are a friendly and supportive; ensuring that we operate with professionalism and inclusivity.
Due to the geographical area this post covers, the post holder will need to demonstrate that they can travel by car within the area.
Main duties of the job
Work with Service Users with both functional and organic illnesses, with the full support of the MDT.
Carry a caseload of patients with varying needs.
Use excellent OT assessment skills, risk management skills and communication skills; working towards building therapeutic relationships with both Service Users and their families/carers.
Work as part of a knowledgeable, supportive and forward-thinking team who are committed to supporting and guiding learning and development.
Work closely with our Voluntary Partners and Primary Care.
the post holder will receive regular Clinical, Managerial and Peer supervision and access a wide range of development opportunities. Supervision will also be provided from the OT Clinical Leads.

12. HCPC-Registered Occupational Therapist
13. Degree/diploma in Occupational Therapy
Desirable criteria
14. Membership of OT professional body and/or special interest group
15. Post-graduate training relevant to specialist area
16. L’APPLE accreditation
Skills
Essential criteria
17. Ability to apply core OT skills in a mental health setting, including carrying out occupational assessments and setting occupational goals.
18. Well-developed motivational and negotiating skills
19. Ability to build effective working relationships
20. Ability to work autonomously and set own priorities
Desirable criteria
21. Skills in applying evidence-based practice.
Knowledge/Experience
Essential criteria
22. Experience of working with dementia and/or cognitive impairment
23. Experience of working with people who have severe and enduring needs
