An enthusiastic and experienced generalist Human Resources professional is sought for the post of HR Coordinator in the Department of Space and Climate Physics (Mullard Space Science Laboratory), University College London (UCL). This is a full-time, fixed-term post for two years with potential extension subject to funding.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading HR activities within the department, managing interactions between the department, Faculty, and UCL’s central HR teams. Responsibilities include directing staff recruitment, managing onboarding from induction through probation to appraisal, and acting as the first point of contact for HR staffing queries. Additionally, the HR Coordinator will support the Director, Departmental Manager, and line managers by providing advice on HR processes, policies, employee relations, and ensuring adherence to HR procedures.
About you
You should have experience in delivering effective HR administration within the Higher Education Sector or a comparable environment, and in implementing and advising on HR policies and procedures. A strong knowledge of employment legislation is essential, along with enthusiasm for staying updated on legal changes. You should have a successful track record in leading recruitment and selection processes, providing guidance on legislation and best practices. Up-to-date knowledge of equality, immigration, and data protection laws is required. A Professional HR qualification such as CIPD is desirable but not essential.
