To provide general administrative assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone

To play a key role in the continued development of MMP, working closely with the practice team in implementing systems aligned to the practices values and purpose.

Main duties of the job


* Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice
* Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments.
* Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed.
* Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
* Enter requests for home visits, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details and where necessary refer to Duty Doctor.
* Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non General Medical Services) services, accept payment and issue receipts for same.
* Ensure that all new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately
* Enter patient information on to the computer as required
* Patient notes and correspondence
* Ensure correspondence, reports, results etc are filed promptly and in the correct records, ensuring that all recent correspondence is available when patients are seen.

Monkfield Medical Practice (MMP) has a patient population of 14000 and is led by 3 Partners and their multidisciplinary team who work together within a close team, supporting each other to provide safe, high quality, sustainable healthcare to Cambourne.

Qualifications

Essential

* GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths

Experience

Essential

* Experience of working on a confidential basis in a reception / office environment
* Working with and within a diverse community
* Experience of problem solving when individuals are upset, confused or angry.
* Experience in using MS Packages and databases

Desirable

* To have worked within a practice and/ or health service setting
* Experience in using GP Software e.g. SystmOne
