Job Description The NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Locum Consultant in Urology to provide high‑quality clinical care within the Urology Department.
The postholder will support both elective and emergency urological services, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective patient management.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver consultant‑level care in general urology, including outpatient clinics, theatre lists, and diagnostic procedures.
* Participate in on‑call rota for urological emergencies (frequency varies by Trust). Provide leadership and supervision to junior doctors, specialty trainees, and nursing staff.
* Contribute to MDT meetings, case discussions, and clinical governance activities.
* Ensure accurate documentation, adherence to NHS clinical standards, and timely communication with patients and colleagues.
* Support service development, quality improvement initiatives, and pathway optimisation.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
* Full GMC registration with a license to practise.
* CCT in Urology (or equivalent specialist registration). FRCS (Urol) or equivalent recognised qualification.
* Evidence of ongoing CPD and compliance with revalidation requirements.
* Proven experience working at Consultant level in Urology within the NHS or equivalent healthcare system.
* Competence in core urological procedures (e.g., cystoscopy, TURBT, TURP, scrotal surgery). Experience managing acute urological emergencies.
* Strong outpatient and theatre‑based clinical skills.
* Enhanced DBS clearance.
* Up‑to‑date mandatory training (BLS/ILS, safeguarding, infection control, etc.). Occupational health clearance (immunity status, vaccinations).
* Two recent clinical references covering the last 2–3 years.
* Right to work in the UK.
Competitive hourly or daily locum rates (agency‑negotiated). Flexible job plan depending on Trust needs (clinics, theatres, admin time). Accommodation or travel support may be available depending on location.
