About The Role
Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick are seeking a Lead Planning Engineer to join the Sizewell C Project. Sizewell C will create a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for at least 60 years. It will be built next to Sizewell B which began operating in 1995 and has so far avoided more than 76 million tonnes of carbon emissions.
This role will be hybrid with a min of 2 days at our Bristol Aztec West office.
What you'll be doing
Purpose of the Role
The Lead Planning Engineer will lead and coordinate cross-functional planning activities across multiple MEH Alliance workstreams at Sizewell C. The role is responsible for driving consistency, integration and maturity of planning processes, ensuring alignment with strategic project objectives and the successful development of the integrated schedule.
You will provide expert planning guidance across design, procurement, manufacture and installation phases, mentor planning engineers, and support the continued development of future-phase planning with a strong focus on collaboration, risk management and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the development, integration and maintenance of scope within the overall detailed and integrated project schedule.
* Ensure alignment across discipline planners, interfaces and workstreams.
* Undertake critical path analysis, float management and scenario planning.
* Lead schedule risk assessments and support mitigation planning.
* Mentor and support planning engineers, ensuring consistency in planning methodology, reporting and controls.
* Produce, contribute to and present planning reports and forecasts to senior stakeholders.
* Drive continuous improvement of planning processes, including change control and monthly planning cadence.
* Facilitate collaborative planning sessions with project teams, leadership and key stakeholders.
* Provide forward-looking planning support for upcoming project phases, including Phase 2 readiness.
* Maintain a proactive, solutions-driven approach to planning and delivery.
Essential — Qualifications & Experience
* Degree qualified in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
* Minimum of 8 years’ experience in project planning, ideally within the nuclear or major infrastructure sector.
* Experience working on large, complex projects with multiple interfaces.
* Advanced user of Primavera P6.
* Strong technical and analytical planning capability.
* Able to obtain a security clearance.
Desirable
* Recognised project management qualification (e.g. APM) or equivalent.
* Experience working within integrated project controls environments (schedule, cost and risk).
* Proven experience leading planning teams within complex programmes.
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
