Senior SHEQ Advisor – North East
Due to company expansion, we are seeking a Senior Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ) Advisor to join our growing team and support our operations across multiple sites in the North East.
The post holder will be based in the Northeast, with regular travel required between our locations (typically 2 days per week at each site), as well as occasional travel to other company and customer sites across the region and beyond. Car allowance and fuel card provided.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role in a growing business. The successful candidate will be proactive, highly organised, flexible, and attentive to detail, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and maintain SHEQ reporting systems.
* Compile statistics for reports and presentations.
* Complete customer accreditation documentation.
* Develop and maintain internal SHEQ procedures, including safe operating procedures, toolbox talks, safety alerts, and one-point lessons.
* Actively participate in the monthly safety committee and chair meetings when required.
* Investigate and record accidents, near misses, environmental incidents, and cases of ill health.
* Conduct site safety inductions and monitor safety-critical training requirements.
* Advise and train staff on best work practices.
* Monitor environmental impacts, objectives, and targets.
* Conduct internal, ISO, and customer audits.
* Support sites in implementing appropriate safe systems of work.
* Monitor EdApp / MYC systems for compliance.
* Liaise with relevant authorities as required.
* Suggest improvements to working processes to drive continual improvement.
* Lead external audits for relevant locations.
Person Specification
Essential:
* Proven experience in a SHEQ role.
* COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) experience – essential.
* NEBOSH or equivalent qualification.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage own workload.
* Excellent IT/PC skills.
* Experience with SHEQ reporting systems.
* Incident investigation and root cause analysis (RCA).
Desirable:
* Experience auditing ISO45001, ISO14001 & ISO9001.
* IOSH membership.
* Chemical, petrochemical, or waste industry experience.
* Environmental qualifications.
