Clinical Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Clinical Nurse Practitioner (RMN or RNLD) to deliver advanced nursing assessment and intervention within the National High Secure Deaf Service with complex mental health needs. This is a senior clinical role requiring excellent professional judgement, strong leadership capability, and a commitment to compassionate care across this specialist area.
The postholder will offer clinical supervision, mentoring, teaching, and professional development to nursing staff and wider MDT colleagues.
The postholder will work collaboratively within established MDT teams contributing specialist nursing perspectives to care planning, risk management, and treatment pathways.
It would be desirable for candidates to have knowledge and/or experience of Deaf culture and the unique ways in Deaf people experience the range of Mental Disorders.
As a senior clinical, the post holder will contribute to clinical audits, investigations, and quality assurance activity and will provide visible clinical leadership through deployment into ward settings where required to support staff, patients, and service delivery and to provide hands‑on clinical support and leadership and reflective practice in response to service need.
Main duties of the job
To provide access to advanced healthcare assessment and intervention for a defined patient group and their families under the care programme approach, who present with significant healthcare problems/disorders.
To provide advance clinical advice on the provision of treatments across this specialist area of practice.
To provide a realistic or occasionally intensive support to patients in a healthcare setting. To demonstrate active leadership skills within the team, providing education and supervision to all staff within a MDT setting.
Job responsibilities
Require a registered Nurse professional to deliver advanced nursing care to patients, in line with specific standards within a healthcare environment. The postholder will offer clinical support to the MDT through excellent clinical leadership and management skills.
Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.
You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.
Please note that this post does not meet the pay or skill level required for a Skilled worker visa.
Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary/ skill level is below the minimum required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. In these circumstances the Trust would not, therefore, be able to sponsor for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa.

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (RMN or RNLD)
* Post qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant area of practice.
* Management and Leadership qualification
* Demonstrates continuing Professional Development
Experience
* Demonstrate satisfactory clinical expertise for the banding
* The ability to deal with and resolve conflict
Knowledge
* Advanced knowledge of the principals of medication management and concordance
* Knowledge of education of others and identification of training requirements
* Advanced knowledge of the Care Programme Approach, Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty and Safeguarding
* Knowledge and understanding of current legislation and understanding of clinical risk assessments
* Knowledge of the nursing 6 c's
