Responsibilities and duties of the Engineering Manager role Reporting to the Head of UK Operations - Biofuels, you will: Lead and oversee a portfolio of engineering projects across multiple sites, ensuring delivery to agreed timeframes, safety standards, and budgets. Manage and mentor a team of Project Engineers, supporting their technical growth and professional development. Monitor project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and maintain accurate reporting across all project phases. Champion high standards of health & safety, ensuring all engineering activity aligns with internal policies and regulatory requirements. Take ownership of process safety activities, including chairing or contributing to HAZOPs, Process Hazard Reviews, and LOPA assessments. Control engineering budgets, contribute to annual CAPEX planning, and ensure resources are allocated effectively. Produce concise updates, reports, and performance summaries as required by senior leadership. Work closely with Operations and Terminal Managers to identify, scope, and execute improvements across production, storage, and processing assetsProfessional qualifications We are looking for someone with: A degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline Demonstrated experience managing multi-disciplinary engineering projects Strong working knowledge of process safety principles, including hazardous area classification, HAZOP, LOPA, and PHR methodologies. A solid grasp of UK health, safety and environmental legislation - NEBOSH General Certificate desirable. Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks such as PSSR, DSEAR and standards relating to plant and equipment integrity.Personal skills The Engineering Manager role would suit someone who: Thrives in a leadership position and can motivate, coach, and support engineering teams.
