Silverstone UTC is a purpose‑built centre of excellence for young people wanting to break into specialist fields of High‑Performance Engineering and Business with Events Management. It is located in the very heart of British Motorsport, within the Silverstone circuit, in a stunning multi‑million‑pound facility. Job Responsibilities
* Plan, organise and deliver an appropriate learning programme that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfil their academic potential in English at KS4 and KS5.
* Ensure the principles expressed in the mission statement of Silverstone UTC and those of the sponsor are evident in every aspect of the duties of the post.
* Model the highest professional standards in all aspects of the role to all stakeholders.
* Be committed to working in a cohesive, supportive and forward‑thinking team of colleagues sharing an ambitious vision to secure flagship status.
* Contribute to the formulation and implementation of the Silverstone UTC improvement plan.
* Be prepared to work ‘across the piece,‘ being flexible and interested in other areas of the UTC.

* Deliver excellent learning experiences that engage and excite young people.
* Plan, prepare and deliver lessons that are well‑sequenced and align with the values and aims of SUTC.

* Monitor student progress and adapt teaching to fill gaps and redress misconceptions.
* Give timely and effective feedback on students’ work to enable them to make excellent progress.
* Manage student behaviour in the learning environment by following the SUTC behaviour policy.
* Participate in extra‑curricular activities.
* Participate in subject, UTC and parent meetings, and communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
* Keep up to date with developments in the subject area, teaching resources and methods, and make relevant changes to schemes of work and lesson plans as appropriate.
* Carry out additional tasks at the request of the Principal and/or the Head of Department.
* Contribute, at all times, to our ethos of creating work‑ready individuals.
* Work in line with statutory safeguarding guidance (e.g., Keeping Children Safe in Education, Prevent) and our safeguarding and child protection policies.
* Work with the DSL to promote the best interests of pupils, including sharing concerns where necessary.
* Promote the safeguarding of all pupils in the school.
* Hold form tutor role: deliver tutorial sessions effectively, following the programme of study provided; foster excellent relationships with tutees and their parents; make regular and effective communication with parents and carers to support students in your tutor group.
Safeguarding
The Governing Body is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will be required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and work in line with statutory safeguarding guidance and the school's safeguarding policies.
