Main Duties
* Be a productive and cohesive member of the orthoplastic hand surgery team.
* Organise own workload and manage patient care, including administrative duties.
* Participate in undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education including teaching as necessary.
* Participate in clinical audit and research.
* Respond to emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
* Engage in multidisciplinary teamwork, including MDT discussions with other colleagues.
* Develop special interests aligned with the Directorate’s strategic direction.
* Undertake ward rounds as appropriate.
* Join the planned Plastic Surgery out‑of‑hours on‑call rota.
* Provide evidence‑based care in a multidisciplinary setting.

Qualifications & Experience
* Full GMC Registration and a licence to practice.
* FRCS(Plast) or evidence of enrolment, or equivalent.
* ATLS certification.
* Within 6 months of CCT, or have CCT/equivalent.
* Logbook evidence of hand trauma and elective surgery.
* Desirable: over 1 year hand surgery experience and fellowship training.
* Higher degree (PG Master’s, PG Diploma, Diploma in Hand Surgery BSSH/FESSH) is desirable.
Audit, Research & Teaching
* Interest and knowledge of audit; evidence of completed audits.
* Desirable: published in peer‑reviewed journals, presented at hand conferences, higher research degree.
* Essential teaching: proven ability to teach and commitment to CPD.
* Desirable: formal teaching qualification.
Personal Skills
* Effective communication.
* Highly motivated.
* Ability to work flexibly to meet departmental targets.
* Up‑to‑date knowledge of NHS and future challenges.
* Desirable: attendance at hand conferences, membership of BAPRAS, BSSH/FESSH.
