JOB DESCRIPTION
To produce accurate machined (turned) parts, to specific standards, on-time, maintaining quality, tolerances, safety standards, within budget based on the project plan and in order to improve the efficiency and quality of products.
THE ROLE
1. Use CNC machines to their maximum efficiency within the constraints of the manufacturer’s operating instructions.
2. Increase the current capacity of the existing machines, ensuring the order of work gives maximum machine utilisation.
3. Assist in ensuring correct tool management and selection is always achieved.
4. Accurately produce CNC programs for the machining of in-house and sub-contracted parts.
5. Use of all machines and equipment within HGT to their maximum efficiency, within the constraints of the manufacturers operating instructions, to carry out the machining of components within the required tolerances.
6. Assist in the development of new and existing manufacturing processes and procedures to optimise performance.
7. Follow company Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures, advising management of any improvements required and reporting any safety problems.
8. Follow company quality procedures as per the Quality manual.
9. Maintain good standard of housekeeping throughout the machine shop. Including using 5S techniques (Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
10. Use methods of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement during commissioning to set the foundation and benchmark for future production improvements.
11. Strive to improve current operating methods to reduce cost or increase efficiency, adapting to using new technology when it is available.
12. Ensure timely and effective corrective action is taken to resolve any non-conformances.
13. Assist to identify and implement solutions to quality problems or issues.
14. Report any quality problems or issues to management.
15. Ensure all equipment is appropriately maintained and report any concerns to management.
16. Ensure all equipment is operated safely (no unsafe working practises are to be employed).
17. Clean down machines after use and report any defects or concerns to management.
18. Accurately read and interpret engineering drawings.
19. Accurately read and use all available types of measuring equipment to ensure product is within tolerance and of high quality selecting the most efficient method of manufacture.
20. Actively participate and contribute in meetings as appropriate.
21. To develop and improve working knowledge through professional development, contributing to the improvement of manufacturing.
22. Train other personnel in the use of machining techniques, including your team and apprentices when required.
23. Assist in developing and adopt SOP and TPM methods of working, reporting any issues to supervisor of Management.
24. Feedback to designers all errors, modifications, re-work and other appropriate information to alert them to any issues. Provide constructive input to resolving the issue in future at design stage to prevent reoccurrence.
25. Ensure that completion of LN hours and work cards is undertaken daily.
26. Ensure all personnel (Group employee, sub-contractor, or visitor) demonstrate the highest standards of health and safety when travelling through or working within designated geographical area of operation.
27. Change shift when required to do so as deemed necessary by Supervision or Management.
28. Carry out any other duties within the capabilities of the job holder which may arise
