Position: Lead Electrical Design Engineer

PRS Engineering has engaged with a new client and a world leading manufacturer of Special Purpose Machinery. Due to recent promotions, we now have an opportunity for a Lead Electrical Engineer with a background in design (electrical) and understanding of control systems, PLC's and system software for collaboration between engineering departments. Ideally you will have worked in a manufacturing environment of automation, automated equipment and special purpose machinery.
About The Role
As Electrical Team Lead you will be responsible for providing leadership to the Electrical Engineering team, while ensuring optimum levels of service and satisfaction to customers through their innovative approach in developing packaging and processing machinery systems, utilising electrical engineering principles.
Key responsibilities:
* Co-ordinate work schedules for the team including resource planning and delegating tasks.
* Liaise with and establish excellent relationships with customers, colleagues, suppliers etc
* Manage design projects ensuring all milestones are met
* Develop electrical designs for primary products and new projects in collaboration with other departments
* Work closely with the Software Engineers to collaborate with the development of PLC and PC programs for systems or machines that require them
* Liaise with customers and Technical Support to find solutions to electrical problems of machines and/or systems and report finding to the team.
* Document to the required level for UKCA and CE compliance, the electrics of a machine developed.
* Travel to both customer and our sites to support and develop equipment and solutions when required.
Qualification and Experience:
* Minimum 8 to 10 years electrical engineering experience – special purpose machine design or manufacturing related field is desirable
* Knowledge of the Machinery directive 2006/42/EC
* Knowledge of the machinery safety regulations BS EN ISO 13849 & BS EN 60204-1:2018
* Experience of working with Allen Bradley and Siemens equipment
* Experience of UL requirements and certifying control panels to UL standards
* Experience of designing safety circuits to the required PL/SIL ratings
* Experience of using safety system verification tools and data (Sistema)
* Tertiary Qualifications in Electrical Engineering
* Previous experience of managing and building a team
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to problem solve and work autonomously
