Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our team at a leading bakery manufacturing facility in Wigston, Leicester. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of production and packaging lines, including key machinery such as Multivac Thermoformers, dough mixers, belt sheeters, and other essential bakery equipment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with bakery machinery and production line operations, ensuring the highest levels of productivity, efficiency, and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee and Maintain Production Lines: Ensure smooth operation of production lines, including ovens, mixers, sheeters, and packaging equipment, to minimize downtime.
* Troubleshooting and Repairs: Identify and resolve technical issues promptly with bakery machinery, including Multivac Thermoformers, dough mixers, and associated equipment.
* Scheduled Maintenance: Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on all production and packaging machinery to ensure they are in optimal working condition.
* Emergency Response: Provide quick-response support during machinery breakdowns, conducting fault diagnosis and repairs to minimize production disruption.
* Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and quality standards in all maintenance activities, as well as maintaining accurate maintenance logs and records.
* Continuous Improvement: Suggest and implement improvements to machinery, processes, and maintenance procedures to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
* Collaboration: Work closely with production and packaging teams to ensure machine availability and productivity goals are met.
Skills and Experience:
* Essential:
* Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer in a manufacturing environment, ideally within a bakery or food production setting.
* Strong hands-on experience with bakery machinery, including Multivac Thermoformers, dough mixers, belt sheeters, and other related equipment.
* Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
* Familiarity with production line operations and associated mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
* Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a production environment.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Desirable:
* Electrical qualification (e.g., 17th/18th Edition Electrical Wiring Regulations).
* PLC programming and fault-finding experience.
* Experience with process automation and control systems.
* Prior experience with preventative maintenance planning and implementation.
