Clinical Specialist

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Hartlepool Hub Team (Interface Team) for a highly motivated and skilled professional to join us as a Clinical Specialist on a 12-month maternity cover contract.
The successful candidate will provide strong clinical leadership to the Hub Team, supporting colleagues with initial assessments, triage, and effective signposting. You will play a key role in ensuring Trust targets are achieved while maintaining a high standard of care that is responsive to individual needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert clinical oversight, guidance, and decision‑making support.
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies including statutory services, VCSE organisations, carers, and families.
- Promote a culture of co‑production, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Lead on professional development and ensure delivery of robust evidence‑based practice.
- Provide evidence‑based treatment planning.
- Undertake ongoing audit of care and service delivery, underpinned by research and evidence‑based practice.
- Support the team manager and other senior clinical staff in establishing and maintaining high standards and continual improvement within the established governance framework.
- Participate in clinical/professional and management supervision.
- Contribute to multi‑disciplinary team working.
- Abide by all Trust policies and procedures.
- Respond flexibly and creatively to challenges.

Qualifications
- Current Professional Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council - RMN / RNLD/ RGN (RNSC - CAMHS Only)
- Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor or currently in progress of achieving.
- Trained in Clinical Supervision and providing Clinical Supervision or in the process of achieving.
- Professional clinical knowledge and experience acquired through degree (or equivalent post registration study), supplemented by specialist training, experience, short courses at level 7.
- Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma/Masters Degree, Intermediate Systemic Family Therapy/Postgraduate diploma in CBT/British Isles Dialectical Behaviour Therapy /NMP (Independent Prescriber), Psychosocial Interventions diploma in CBT/British Isles Dialectical Behaviour Therapy /NMP (Independent Prescriber).
- Equivalent significant clinical experience such as working (minimum of 2 years) as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area, together with evidence of relevant CPD to Level 7 or equivalent.
Knowledge
- Extensive knowledge of current issues relating to health needs of patients in the field of practice, regionally and nationally.
- Understanding and working knowledge of the legal framework and statutory obligations under the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act.
- Detailed understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice.
- Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.
- Clinical Governance and its application in practice.
- Working knowledge of clinical medicines management.
- Understanding of psychological models of care and treatment (depending on specialist area).
Experience
- Significant experience working with patients with complex needs in the specialist field.
- Significant experience working with patients who display risk behaviours.
- Clinical risk assessment and management and its application in practice.
- Working collaboratively with service users, their families and carers.
- Working in a multi‑disciplinary team.
- Experience in quality improvement activities.
