Operations Manager - Haematology, Immunology, Rheumatology, Oncology

Main duties of the job

To lead on Quality Improvement and service re-design projects and programmes by working collaboratively with appropriate clinical and non‑clinical teams to deliver excellent patient care.

To deliver the change plans from improvement programmes and projects to fully integrate into sustainable daily business and realise benefits.

Working with the triumvirate, take responsibility for performance management by developing strategies to ensure key performance targets are delivered and meet the Service Accreditation System and Assessment Standards.

To continuously review services through the lens of improving performance to reach a sustainable or improved profitable state, whilst continuing to deliver truly effective patient‑centred care.

To provide operational leadership to all relevant services to ensure effective and timely delivery of performance indicators and drive operational excellence, supporting the delivery of a High Performance Management System.

To develop shared objectives promoting a culture of collaborative working and empowering staff to achieve both performance and transformational change initiatives.

To demonstrate excellent people management skills to inspire and motivate, both direct reports and wider colleagues and enable the delivery and improvement of services.

To adhere to the Clinical Group/NCA policies, processes and ways of working to contribute to the achievement of the NCA strategies.

Qualifications

* In depth professional knowledge across a number of disciplines acquired through post‑graduate study or relevant equivalent experience.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Higher degree level or equivalent.

* Evidence of operational experience as defined within the job specification, in an NHS, or broader public/ private/ sector setting.
* Understanding of the NHS, its infrastructure and partner healthcare organisations.
* Detailed knowledge and experience of activity management (including waiting lists).


Skills & Abilities

* Ability to engage effectively in dialogue with individuals at all levels.
* Evidence of good influencing and negotiating skills.
* Ability to deduce key points from large/complex volumes of numerical and other data.
* Strong analytical skills and ability to consider the wider picture including future scenario planning.
* Ability to present relevant information in a concise format.
* Ability to lead and work as a team member with professional and managerial colleagues.
* Ability to empower, coach and support staff.

£66,582 to £77,368 a year pro rata, per annum
