You'll join the Serco Fleet Maintenance team, leading the execution of our business strategy, particularly by developing and managing high-quality Vehicle Maintenance services aligned with the Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness. As a key team member, you'll help drive business growth and improvement by finding ways to make fleet maintenance more efficient and innovative. Your efforts will support our goal of delivering top-notch services that provide lasting value for customers, colleagues, and stakeholders through our Fleet Maintenance operations. We are seeking a skilled professional with strong customer engagement abilities, along with the motivation and persistence needed to succeed in this challenging role. Key responsibilities: Strategy and Plans: To contribute as a member of the Fleet management team and in the development of strategies and delivery plans. To implement and manage robust plans for the Fleet Maintenance Workshop delivery, aligned to Serco Group and divisional strategies, delivering the set objectives. To ensure fleet maintenance services are formulated to meet the needs of all current and future aspects of the contract requirements and new business. Develop, in conjunction with the National Engineering Manager, robust process and practices for the Maintenance Workshop to ensure compliance in all areas. To identify suitable sites for new workshop facilities and develop existing sites into a commercial and viable operation. Undertake Cross Region Audits and report writing. Monitor and manage improvements identified through any, and all, Audits. Provide weekly and Monthly reporting against VOR (to include vehicle repairs outside of KPI and MOT failure investigations). Customers and Markets: To lead and engage in the development of a network of senior relationships with customers, potential customers, partners and stakeholders in order to anticipate and meet the Business Unit existing and future needs. Organisation and People: To recruit, professionally manage, and develop, outstanding Workshop personnel, and to ensure the workshops are staffed with talented motivated people who play to their strengths to meet the business needs and are motivated to improve. Manage implementation of appropriate policies, practices and equipment to ensure that the health, safety and wellbeing of our employees using Fleet & Plant is actively managed. Develop, deliver and continuously Monitor the Health and Safety program within the workshops. Engage with Fleet Senior Leadership to provide influence and lead in all aspects of Fleet Maintenance remaining compliant with all policies, procedures and practices. Ongoing coaching, training and development of your regional workshops team, including the Workshop Apprenticeship Program. Daily monitoring of relevant KPI's and ensuring they adhered across the department operational activities. Growth and Financials: To ensure the Fleet Workshop strategy is delivered to support the growth aspirations of the business ensuring appropriately costed specifications are built to deliver bid expectations. Budgetary monitoring across all sites, driving change to ensure cost effective delivery for all maintenance services. Challenge outsourced parts delivery services for cost effectiveness and quality. To consider efficiencies at all times to improve financials. To ensure effective management of Fleet Maintenance Workshops are in place to achieve financial and improvement targets and to meet all legal requirements. What you’ll need: Essential Qualified HGV Motor Vehicle Technician Highly skilled in Fleet Workshop management. Highly impactful, articulate, strong relationship builder with the ability to influence at all levels and with evidence of building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external customers and key business stakeholders. Experience of managing fleet maintenance teams. Experience of maintaining large fleets Experience of proactively engaging customers to improve relationships for the long-term and continue to drive value. Exceptional leadership qualities with evidence of building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external customers and key business stakeholders. Sound strategic thinker with the ability to operate with a hands-on, pragmatic approach when required Strong understanding and experience of managing Health & Safety in Workshops. Strongly values led individual with excellent judgement and decision making skills Self-aware yet highly resilient individual capable of challenging and being challenged. Proficient in use of All Microsoft Platforms Desirable Goods Management CPC qualification HGV License IOSH Health & Safety qualifications Experience within the Environmental Services industry.
