Multi‑Skilled Engineer – Glenbervie – Shift based, including night and weekend rotations
Macphie is a family‑owned ingredient manufacturer based in Glenbervie, Aberdeenshire, with additional sites in Glasgow, Tannochside, and the Midlands.
About The Role
The Multi‑Skilled Engineer reports to the Engineering Supervisor and is responsible for planned and reactive maintenance on a wide range of manufacturing equipment and plant. The role requires identification and rectification of both mechanical and electrical faults and completion of planned maintenance within specified time‑frames.
Shift Pattern
Work a rotating shift pattern across early, day, back and night shifts, including scheduled days off. An 8.5% shift allowance is provided.
Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Compliance
* Work at all times in accordance with company Health & Safety policies, procedures, and relevant legislation, ensuring a safe working environment
* Ensure all food safety, legality, and quality standards are consistently met
* Maintain an audit‑ready approach, ensuring engineering systems and documentation comply with BRC standards
* Ensure full compliance with internal and external data protection requirements, reporting any breaches in line with the Employee Breach Notification Procedure
Maintenance & Engineering
* Carry out maintenance of factory equipment, plant, and all site property within the Glenbervie complex
* Support the maintenance of environmental systems, site services plant and associated operational procedures
* Assist with the installation of new plant and services, as well as modifications and upgrades to existing equipment
Systems, Records & Documentation
* Accurately maintain electronic maintenance records and associated engineering documentation
* Record all planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and breakdown activities within the CMMS system (IFS)
Spare Parts & Resources
* Utilise spare parts efficiently and support the identification and maintenance of adequate stock levels
Projects & Continuous Improvement
* Contribute to project work as specified by Engineering Management
General Responsibilities
* Participate in a shift pattern rotation as required
* Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by Engineering Management
Requirements
Experience & Qualifications:
* Formal engineering qualification, preferable apprenticeship trained/time served in your chosen discipline (Mechanical/Electrical)
Skills:
* Strong communication skills both written and verbal
* Able to work on own initiative with minimum supervision
* Monitoring/prioritizing workload to achieve targets
* High attention to detail
* Pragmatic measured approach to problem solving
* Able to organise work to meet quality standards and deadlines
* Working well as a team
* Working well under pressure
* Good knowledge of Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
Desirable skills or experience:
* Working knowledge of steam/pressure systems advantageous but not essential
* Any maintenance of food equipment experience would be advantageous but not essential
* Experience of working in a food manufacturing environment
