Job Role: Personal Development Coach

Salary: Up to £27,142 per annum pro-rata dependent on experience and qualifications

Contract: 31.2 hours per week, Term-time only 39 weeks per year.

Fixed-term contract for one year

About The Role:

As a Personal Development Coach, you will work closely with college teams to support student retention, progress, and success by helping students set and review SMART targets across the academic year. Your sessions will cover essential themes including team building, problem solving, resilience, and personal development planning, tailored to students’ individual goals and future aspirations.

As part of the wider student experience provision, the role will involve planning and delivering engaging content around employability, safeguarding, british values, and wellbeing ensuring students are well-informed, motivated, and prepared for their next steps. The successful candidates will also support start-of-year induction activities, track student progress using college systems, liaise with internal and external support services, and contribute to quality assurance processes.

Key Responsibilities:

·To deliver effective Personal Development around employability/IAG sessions groups of FE students including sessions on employability skills, staying safe-online, Fundamental British Values (FBV), County Lines/Cuckooing, building resilience, Mental Health & Well-being and the Governments PREVENT Agenda and all aspects of Personal Development, Behaviour & Attitudes (PDBA) and record within work related activity

·To encourage and motivate students and help the student build up resilience, self-confidence and self-esteem

·To raise student aspirations and develop and enhance their skills

·To encourage students to take responsibility for their own learning

·Ensure all students have access to highly personalised and planned Personal Development sessions based on their intended destinations/aspirations

·To carry out student start of year activities such as safeguarding sessions or welcome events, complete any student information online, student career ideas and capture student intended destinations using the Colleges approved system;

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will ideally need:

·Level 2 qualification in English and Maths

·Safeguarding Level 2 or 3 qualification

·Demonstrable working knowledge of supporting learners with specific learning difficulties

·Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the development of support packages, specifically for literacy needs, numeracy needs and independent living

·Ability to work cross College areas and support different needs Essential CV / Interview / Presentation / Assessment

·Ability to maintain up to date and accurate records within given deadlines Essential

·Ability to develop and create a range of support strategies for learners with specific difficulties Desirable Proven ability to work independently and also as part of a wider team, including external organisations

·Hold excellent communication skills, both orally and written and be able to establish relationships with others based on trust quickly
