About The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional and dynamic individual to lead our high-performing Sport and Uniformed Public Services Department at Eccles Sixth Form College. The department delivers a broad range of programmes from Level 1 to Level 3 across both subject areas. We are looking for a candidate who can shape and develop a forward-thinking curriculum, with a strong focus on supporting student aspirations and fostering a culture of excellence in teaching, learning, and assessment.

The successful applicant will bring vision, drive, and strategic leadership to continue meeting the diverse needs of our learners. A key part of the role will involve strengthening and expanding links with industry partners, helping to create enriched experiences that enable learners to apply their skills in both classroom and practical settings. Outstanding communication skills are essential to build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders.

Our students benefit from excellent facilities, including an FA-approved 4G pitch, a fully equipped fitness suite, science laboratories, a sports hall, an interactive CAVE, and an Anatomage room. The department is staffed by dedicated subject specialists who are committed to delivering high-quality education across multiple pathways in both disciplines.

We are seeking an outstanding teacher and experienced manager with a proven track record of leading quality improvement initiatives at both departmental and cross-college levels. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of performance monitoring and evaluation, and will be confident in implementing strategies to enhance attendance, achievement, and value-added progress. This role requires someone who is innovative, forward-thinking, and committed to providing exceptional learning experiences. Strong communication, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and external partners are essential.
