Purpose and Importance of Position
The Engineering Manager for one or more feature teams holds a critical position, responsible for leading a team of engineers specializing in Azure cloud technology and software development. This role demands a comprehensive technical understanding of software engineering best practices (both technical and methodological), coupled with the ability to coach and mentor team members to consistently deliver high-quality business solutions effectively. The focus will also be on achieving business outcomes and ensuring delivery by collaborating with technologists and product management to ensure that the teams are dedicated to delivering impactful solutions to RiverStone's business needs in an optimal manner.
Essential Functions
* Works with the leadership, technologists & product owners to ensure alignment on team, business, and organization priorities.
* Coach and lead full-stack team of engineers to deliver exceptional results.
* Provide guidance, mentorship, and career development opportunities to team members.
* Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture focused on continuous improvement.
* Advocate and support the agile methods utilized across the department.
* Either by leading, or in collaboration with the product owner, (s) take a proactive approach to quarterly planning, sprint planning, retrospectives, roadmap prioritization, business earned value. Thereby overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of software projects, ensuring they align with business goals, priorities and deadlines.
* IT ownership of assigned product portfolio - keeping aligned with the modernization roadmap of incremental product replacements while ensuring availability and viability of legacy solutions until such times they are replaced.
* Identify and mitigate technical risks and issues proactively.
* Maintain effective communication with business stakeholders via ongoing relationship building, feedback workshops and regular Roadmap reviews (/steering groups).
* Solid understanding of the technical stack, feature team concept ensuring team ownership from concept, through design, specification, construction, infra-as-code, automated & manual testing, training, production roll-out, maintenance and 3rd level support.
* Full understanding of security & threat modeling needs, ensuring all delivered products have been assessed.
* Strives to stay up to date with the latest Azure/.NET technologies and best practice

Experience
* 8+ years' IT experience
* Leading and line-management of engineers (2+ years)
* Excellent leadership, team-building, and coaching skills
* Strong background from software development, including past experience in working in both Cloud and Legacy technologies
* Deep and current understanding of agile methodologies
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Experience with Azure DevOps for Work Management
* Extensive experience with MS products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Power-BI)
Required Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
Additional equivalent years of experience in Information Technology can be substituted for degree.
Preferred Education or Certification
BSc Hons - Information Technology (2:1 or above)
Azure AZ900;
A-Levels: B or above in Mathematics, Physics or science.
Supervisory Role
Full line management responsibility for one or more feature-teams.
Travel
Based upon business need, typical 3-4 per year onsite Manchester / NH visits.
Work Environment / Physical Demands
This position operates in a professional, collaborative environment and must have the ability to timely produce thorough, accurate work with many competing demands, deadlines, and distractions. The position uses standard equipment such as phones, computers, copiers/printers and filing cabinets. Noise level is moderate.
