 
        Lunchtime Supervisor (PMLD Support) – SEN School – Hodge Hill Location: Hodge Hill, Birmingham Start Date: ASAP Enhanced DBS Required About the School This caring and inclusive SEN school in Hodge Hill supports students with a variety of complex needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), sensory impairments, and physical disabilities. The school provides a safe, nurturing environment with specialised resources such as sensory rooms, hydrotherapy pools, and wheelchair-accessible facilities. The team is dedicated to ensuring that every pupil has access to an enriching and supportive school experience — including during lunchtimes, which are seen as a vital part of the day for building independence, social skills, and well-being. About the Role We are looking for a nurturing, proactive, and engaging Lunchtime Supervisor to join the school team and support pupils with PMLD during the midday period. The role involves helping pupils with eating, mobility (including wheelchair support), personal care, and encouraging social interaction in a safe and structured environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with SEN experience who enjoys making a positive difference in a short but impactful part of the school day. Key Responsibilities * Supervise and support pupils with PMLD during lunch and playtimes * Assist with feeding, including supporting those with dietary or medical needs * Provide mobility support for wheelchair users, including safe transitioning between areas * Carry out personal care tasks where required (toileting, changing, hygiene assistance) * Ensure pupils are engaged, safe, and supported in the dining hall and playground * Promote positive behaviour, social interaction, and inclusion * Use communication aids or sensory resources to help pupils understand routines and stay calm * Work closely with teaching assistants and other staff to ensure continuity of care * Maintain a clean, calm, and respectful environment throughout lunchtime Who We’re Looking For * Minimum 6 months experience working with children or young people in the UK (school, nursery, or care setting) * Experience supporting children with PMLD, complex medical or physical needs * Comfortable with personal care and manual handling * Enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service (or willing to aply) * A nurturing and calm manner, with a patient and respectful approach * A proactive team player who takes initiative and communicates well * Someone who can engage pupils during an unstructured part of the day * Training in manual handling, feeding, or safeguarding is a bonus but not essential What the School Offers * A supportive and friendly school environment * Opportunity to work with a dedicated and experienced team * Ongoing training and support for personal development * A chance to make a real difference during an essential part of the day If you’re a compassionate and reliable individual with experience supporting students with additional needs — especially around personal care and physical support — we’d love to hear from you.
