A leading hedge fund is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to join their London-based team. This is a high-impact role where you will play a key part in enhancing the organisation's overall security posture. You'll provide expert guidance and drive improvements across critical areas including network, cloud, data, and system security. The ideal candidate will act as an escalation point for Security Operations, ensuring complex security challenges are effectively analysed and resolved. Responsibilities include overseeing security within major IT projects, leading threat modelling for sophisticated systems, identifying and addressing security gaps through audits, and developing automated solutions to continuously validate control effectiveness and system resilience. This role also offers the opportunity to lead strategic security initiatives and shape the long-term security roadmap. Key Responsibilities: Strengthen security across core areas including network, system, email, cloud, and data protection. Act as a security advisor on IT projects, ensuring risks are identified and mitigated. Manage and optimise security tools to ensure effective deployment and maintenance. Design and develop security solutions and architectures to safeguard critical assets. Oversee the relationship with the Managed Detection and Response (MDR) provider, ensuring service quality and continuous improvement. Execute initiatives aligned with the security roadmap and evolving threat landscape. Required Qualifications: Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in roles such as security engineering, architecture, operations, or application security. Deep understanding of security principles, best practices, and system hardening techniques. Experience with threat modelling, penetration testing, and automated security validation. Strong knowledge of cloud, network, and systems security. Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell preferred). Familiarity with tools such as EDR, DLP, vulnerability scanners, firewalls, and email gateways. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to design practical solutions. Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences. Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field.
