A opportunity has arisen for experienced Band 3 Nursing Assistant to join the Diabetes and Endocrine department in Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Trust as a part-time Monday to Friday 0800 - 1300, at our Community Centres in Southwark and Lambeth.
The successful candidate will be responsible for being the first point of contact for patients attending the department and pre-assessing patients before their clinical review.
The departments are based at Guy's, and at St Thomas' and in our community venues at Southwark and Lambeth, therefore the cross site working will be required training provided at either Guy's or St Thomas Hospital. Although this post is predominantly community focused, the occassional rotation into Guy's and St Thomas hospital for essential personal development will be required. The department is very busy and provides many specialist services to people with Type 1 and supports the management of people with complex type 2 diabetes.
There are also Vascular Foot Health clinics and Rapid Access Endocrine clinics. The centres provide endocrine testing as a Day Cases and are looking to provide intravenous therapies. It also has a small 5 bedded ward and staff will support day case endocrine testing.

Carrying out assigned tasks as part of clinical team in support of registered nurses and to undertake some aspects of care provision without direct supervision.
Ensuring the safety and well being of service users, and always working in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person centred care principles.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Delivering excellent pre clinic assessments
2. Providing excellent patient experience
3. Supporting patients while they are receiving treatment in the day centre
4. Assisting Endocrine CNS with dynamic endocrine testing
5. Assisting unplanned admission people with diabetes complication
6. Working closely with the pre-assessment nursing team and Specialist Clinicians.
7. Proving a safe working environment for patients and staff at all times.
8. Ensure the clinical areas are clean, tidy and well stocked.
9. Working independently in the community with Diabetic Nurse specialist (DSN ) support.

10. Excellent venous sampling skills
