The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving business growth by identifying new opportunities, building strong client relationships, and supporting the company’s strategic goals. The role involves researching market trends, managing client accounts, supporting bid and proposal efforts, and contributing to sales forecasts and revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
Business Growth & Strategy
* Research market trends and identify new business opportunities.
* Develop and implement strategies to attract new clients and expand existing relationships.
* Support the Head of Business Development in planning and delivering growth initiatives.
* Identify potential partnerships, joint ventures, and acquisitions aligned with company strategy.
Client Engagement
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
* Understand client needs and provide tailored solutions.
* Lead client meetings and presentations with confidence and professionalism.
* Manage key accounts to ensure long-term satisfaction and repeat business.
* Negotiate contracts and ensure mutual value for both client and company.
Sales & Reporting
* Support bid and proposal submissions, including PQQs and tender documents.
* Maintain accurate sales forecasts and pipelines using the CRM system (Salesforce).
* Prepare regular business development reports for management.
* Monitor performance against targets and recommend improvements.
Commercial & Risk Management
* Identify potential commercial risks and report them promptly.
* Work within agreed budgets and timelines.
* Represent the company at meetings, events, and networking opportunities.
Health, Safety, Environment & Quality
* Comply with company and client health, safety, and quality standards.
* Work in accordance with ISO9001:2008 systems and other relevant policies.
* Ensure high-quality, compliant outputs at all times.

* Proven experience in business development within the engineering or construction industry.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and CRM systems.
* High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.

* Formal qualification in engineering, construction, or a related discipline.
* Experience working with various contract types (e.g., NEC, IChemE).
