A fantastic career opportunity with full training has arisen for a Trainee Process Operator / Trainee Maintenance Operator for our top-tier COMAH specialist engineering client based in Hampshire. This is a challenging junior trainee-level role suitable for a motivated, hands-on maintenance or operator engineering professional with experience in basic fault finding, repair, PPM, servicing, and maintenance of plant equipment. Candidates must have engineering operational maintenance experience as a base; training will be provided for the rest. The client offers a great long-term career opportunity with structured, personalized training plans, including safety and engineering qualifications.
The ideal trainee Process Operator candidates will have the following skills and experience:
* Experience as an operator with machinery or as a mechanical technician, mechanical maintenance, or similar roles involving servicing, repairing, and fixing equipment on site.
* Experience in plant equipment operation, maintenance, servicing, or repair in industries such as manufacturing, engineering, water, chemical, petrochemical, oil and gas, nuclear, pharmaceutical, or paper manufacturing, especially on live or hazardous plants.
* Engineering qualifications such as Mechanical, Electrical, or Electro-mechanical, NVQ, C&G in welding, fitting, pipework, or other hands-on maintenance trades.
* Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle to reach remote sites; eligibility to work without sponsorship now or in the future.
* Residence within 1 hour of the Alton site due to call-out requirements; availability for a shift pattern of 6am-6pm (7 days on, 7 days off) and 7 nights on, 7 nights off.
* A genuine willingness to learn and develop long-term, with full training including engineering and NEBOSH safety qualifications.
Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, the purpose of this role is to carry out corrective (non-routine) and preventative (routine) maintenance at the production facilities and sites in Hampshire. A full job description will be provided upon application.
