Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join our team as a Kitchen assistant/ ad-hoc Chef. This role is essential in ensuring the preparation and presentation of high-quality meals in a fast-paced kitchen environment within a care home. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for food, strong culinary skills, and a commitment to maintaining food safety standards.
Responsibilities
* Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and menus.
* Assist in meal preparation, ensuring that all ingredients are fresh and properly stored.
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering to food safety regulations.
* Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient service during peak hours.
* Monitor food quality and presentation before serving to residents.
* Participate in menu planning and contribute creative ideas for new dishes.
* Maintain kitchen equipment and report any maintenance issues as necessary.
Requirements
* Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen setting.
* Strong understanding of food safety practices and regulations.
* Previous experience in a restaurant environment is highly desirable.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively under pressure.
* A passion for culinary arts with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
