Technical Director – Engineering & Systems Location: Edinburgh (Hybrid) Join a rapidly growing energy company delivering industrial decarbonisation solutions as Technical Director, leading their engineering function and act as the technical authority across product design, system integration, and lifecycle performance. You will build, lead, and develop the engineering team, shaping processes, standards, and culture while ensuring systems are ready for industrial deployment. You will drive the engineering function and oversee the successful translation of complex energy hardware systems into operational solutions, taking projects from pilot phase to commercial scale. You will ensure system readiness, optimise product design for manufacturability, manage supplier integration, and maintain compliance with CE/UKCA and relevant standards. Key responsibilities: Lead and grow the engineering team, establishing processes, standards, and governance. Own system architecture and integration across mechanical, electrical, control, and process systems. Ensure systems are robust, manufacturable, and deployable at industrial scale. Drive product optimisation, cost reduction, and lifecycle performance. Manage supplier integration and technical requirements. Support project delivery with technical assurance and risk management. Required Experienced: Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards registration (IMechE, IChemE, IET, or equivalent). Proven experience in multidisciplinary industrial hardware and manufacturing. Strong knowledge of high-temperature, thermomechanical, and electrical systems. Experience with CE/UKCA standards, compliance, and ISO quality systems. Ability to lead teams, integrate complex systems, and balance technical with commercial requirements.
