Client Overview: We are seeking dedicated and resilient *female-only* support workers to join a specialist team supporting " AH ", a 23-year-old woman with complex needs and vulnerabilities. AH is currently in temporary accommodation and will transition to a new permanent residence by the end of August. AH requires consistent and compassionate support workers who can build trust, encourage positive life choices, and maintain a safe and empowering environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide 24-hour 1:1 support, including awake night supervision Assist with personal care, medication prompting, and health-related tasks Support with household duties including cleaning and laundry Accompany AH to community services, medical appointments, and social activities Promote healthy routines including food preparation, shopping, and sexual health awareness Manage finances and tenancy-related matters on AH ' s behalf Encourage safe and appropriate relationships Maintain consistent routines and promote independence where possible Client Needs & Risk Considerations: AH has been assessed as lacking capacity regarding finances and tenancy History of drug use and current alcohol consumption - staff must be alert to signs of risk or relapse AH may present challenging behaviour; staff must be trained and confident in de-escalation techniques AH is at risk of self-neglect, abuse, and exploitation - safeguarding awareness is essential AH has potential undiagnosed learning disabilities, acquired brain injury, hearing impairment, and ongoing mental health needs Location: Southend-on-Sea Position Type: Full-Time - Permanent Set Two-Week Rota | Averaging 42 Hours per Week Shift Pattern: Mix of 12-hour day shifts and awake night shifts Contracted Hours: Week 1 Day: 48 hours Week 2 Day: 36 hours Week 1 Nights: 36 hours Week 2 Nights: 48 hours Essential Staff Qualities & Requirements: Female applicants only (due to the client ' s specific needs and risk profile) Physically fit and active - AH enjoys walking and may engage in bike rides (bicycles provided) Trauma-informed approach with high levels of empathy and patience Non-judgmental, grounded, and emotionally resilient Able to work within a set rota pattern and provide consistency Willing to engage with AH on her level, using humour and a down-to-earth communication style Reliable and committed to long-term engagement with the client Experience with mental health, substance misuse, or forensic/challenging behaviour support is highly desirable Safeguarding Commitment: All applicants must be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check and provide references.
