Electrical Maintenance Technician – Forth Ports Ltd
Location: Port of Grangemouth, Scotland.
Salary: £37,316 + shift allowance (~£3,000), on-call payments (~£1,200) and regular overtime opportunities (1.5x midweek, 2x weekend).
Shift Pattern
* 7 weeks day shift (08:00 – 16:00)
* 1 week night shift (22:00 – 06:00 Sun‑Thurs)
* 1 week back shift (14:00 – 22:00)
* 1 week early shift (06:00 – 14:00)
Additional one‑week on‑call period every 10 weeks, covering Friday 12:00 to Friday 12:00; on‑call allowance and per‑call‑out payment.
About The Role
Forth Ports is a leading UK port operator. We are looking for a time‑served Electrical Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair large‑scale operational plant and electrical distribution in a fast‑moving 24‑hour environment at the Port of Grangemouth. The role involves fault finding, breakdown response, and working on large cranes and industrial equipment.
Typical Duties
* Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults on large mobile and fixed plant.
* Carrying out planned maintenance, inspections and breakdown response.
* Working safely within live operational areas.
* Repairing and maintaining equipment such as STS gantry cranes, straddle carriers, terminal tractors, dock gates and electrical distribution from 230 V up to 11 kV and low‑voltage DC systems.
* Electrical installations within warehousing and office environments.
* Working at height, outdoors, and occasionally within confined spaces.
* Supporting major engineering projects, shutdown activities at the lock entrance and equipment installations.
* Using Ultimo CMMS to record work, identify recurring faults and support reliability improvements.
* Co‑ordinating maintenance activities with the mechanical team and operations teams.
* Contributing to continuous improvement to enhance performance and reduce downtime.
Qualifications and Experience
* Time‑served electrical apprenticeship.
* Experience reading schematic drawings (preferred).
* Competent in electrical fault finding.
* Comfortable working shifts and overtime.
* Reliable, safety‑focused and able to work under pressure.
* Experience with a CMMS or tablet system (advantageous).
* Full right to work in the UK.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Experience in ports, rail freight, quarries, heavy manufacturing, steelworks, power generation, bulk handling facilities or mobile plant maintenance environments (advantageous).
* Transferable experience from heavy industrial or electrical maintenance backgrounds encouraged.
