We have an exciting role on offer within our Finance service as a Senior Accounting Officer.
Are you an experienced finance professional looking to make a real impact? We’re looking for a qualified accounting technician to join our Corporate Finance Team.
Assets, predominantly property, plant and equipment, are the Council’s single largest asset valued at over £400m on the Balance Sheet. This post is the specialist lead on assets within the finance team (reporting to the senior financial accountant), and is responsible for the maintenance of the Council’s fixed asset register and the various associated capital accounting processes.
These all follow the annual delivery of the Council's capital programme and underpin the closure of accounts process and production of the financial statements for the Council.
An understanding of local government finance is desirable but not essential to undertake this role. However, if you have a keen eye for detail, enjoy technical tasks, and have strong IT skills and finance system related experience, this may be the job for you.
At Middlesbrough Council, our values are at the heart of everything we do. You’ll join a team committed to:
• Making a positive impact for the community.
• Delivering high standards of professional financial practice.
• Supporting your development through continuous learning.
• Creating a fair, inclusive, and supportive workplace.
This role offers the chance to ensure a high quality of governance is applied to our accounting processes, to gain exposure to senior decision-making in relation to key accounting matters, and to develop your career within a forward-thinking Finance team.
If this is you, this may be the opportunity you are looking for!
