Smart Manufacturing Solutions are currently seeking a skilled quality inspector for one of our clients based in Stockton On Tees. As a Quality Inspector you will be an integral member of the team responsible for maintaining all day-to-day inspection activities independently, with activities prioritised in collaboration with the Quality Engineer.
Responsibilities:
* Completion of product inspections inline with internal and external requirements; covering goods-in, final inspection, process changes, process developments, new parts, internal and external non conformances, and containments.
* Verifying product conformance with the operation and application of various traditional and modern inspection equipment, utilizing different inspection methods and techniques
* Using engineering drawings to perform technical inspections for new / prototype parts through our NPI system; Producing documentation (ISIR / F&F / PPAP) for relevant stakeholders
* Independently manage New Part Introduction inspections through effective planning and cross departmental collaboration in line with Katmex KPIs.
* Confidently read, understand and apply appropriate standards or specifications such as BSI or ISO to determine product conformance.
* Completion of daily process audits and random process inspections, challenging process failures and/or weaknesses, reporting results to Quality Engineer
* Provide technical support to production in-order to maintain production, customer requirements and standards
* Liaise and communicate with other departments and ensure an effective interface is maintained through the provision of clear and professional communication, utilising methods of verbal, reports, mails, and meetings
* Contribute to continuous improvement activities in line with the businesses KPIs, utilizing mythologies such as; TQM, Kaizen, 5s, 6 Sigma.
* Assist in maintaining Quality Management System to accreditation ISO9001 & 45001 by performing internal audits and process improvements in line with Katmex KPIs.
* Proactively manage workloads that could be presented through various channels such as peers, colleagues, customers, suppliers, ensuring these are closed within set deadlines.
* Support the completion of Health and Safety activities assigned to the department
Requirements:
* 5+ years' experience in an industrial environment
* 5+ years’ experience within an Inspection role
* Display competence with the operation and application of various traditional inspection equipment
* Display competence with the utilization of different inspection methods and techniques
* Competent with understanding and reading engineering drawings
* A good understanding of GD&T
* Competence with reading and understanding specifications and standards
* Competent with reading and following working instructions, standard operating procedures and check-lists
* Strong communicational skills, both written and oral Good report writing skills
* Good independent learning and working skills
* Comfortable with using Microsoft Packages such as Outlook, Excel, Word and Powerpoint
* Experience with AutoCAD packages (desirable but not essential)
* Experience with CCM devices, fix or portable (desirable but not essential)
* Destructive & Non-destructive weld testing / inspection (preferred but not essential)
* Internal auditor to ISO 9001 & 45001 (preferred but not essential)
* Service and Calibration of traditional inspection equipment
