Calcot, Reading

Hourly Pay: £15.22 per hour (£16.74 at night and weekends)

Contract type: Permanent - 42 hours (Full-time) per week (average), 12-hour shifts

Working Pattern: Days or nights - rolling rota of 3 consecutive days on and 3 off.

Day Shift: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Night Shift: 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.

Friends of the Elderly (FotE) is a not-for-profit charity dedicated to providing excellent care with a family feel, supporting older people for over 120 years. We offer care home and day care services, as well as grants for older people in financial difficulty.


About Friends Place, Calcot

Opening in July 2025, Friends Place will be a vibrant community providing residential, dementia, and respite care, run by Friends of the Elderly. Our state-of-the-art facility will feature amenities like a cinema, salon, library, and bar, creating a warm, homely environment for residents.


Role Overview: Senior Care Assistant

As a Senior Care Assistant, you will be a key worker for residents, helping develop and maintain personalized care plans, supporting independence, dignity, and quality of life. Your responsibilities include ensuring safety, supporting the care team, maintaining accurate records, administering medication, and following infection control protocols.

Successful candidates will have excellent communication skills, at least 2 years’ care experience, ideally with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, and a compassionate, proactive attitude. We provide comprehensive training and resources—just bring your enthusiasm to learn and help others live well.
