Responsibilities
* Coordinate the Clinical Outpatients Department ensuring safe staffing skill mix across all areas.
* Assist in the management and organisation of work, ensuring effective communication is always maintained and provide support to Health Care Assistants.
* Play a key role in the education, development, mentorship, supervision and assessment of all learners.
* Undertake nursing interventions consistent with evidence‑based practice, transferring and applying knowledge and skills to meet patients’ needs.
* Work collaboratively with all members of the MDT and make referrals as appropriate.
* Provide support and care for the patient and his/her family respecting their need for privacy and dignity.
* Monitor the effectiveness of nursing care and adjust the programmes of care where indicated.
* Utilise highly developed clinical skills specific to the speciality.
* Practice in accordance with the professional, ethical and legal framework for nursing.
The post holder will work within the Clinical Outpatient Department and will be responsible for the management and co‑ordination of patients attending the department, working with experienced Health Care Assistants and undertaking venepuncture. The post holder will work closely with clinicians across a variety of specialty areas – Surgery, Rheumatology, Cardiology, Respiratory, Neurology, Neurosurgery and ENT – to provide treatment, coordinate the bustling department and ensure patients achieve a positive experience while in our care. You will supervise and support junior team members and pre‑registration nursing students to ensure safe and effective care is always delivered.
