The Job
Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, this is a broad management accounting role within a small but ambitious finance team. The position has no direct line management responsibility but will work closely with finance assistants and operational colleagues.
Key responsibilities include:
Producing accurate monthly management accounts with variance analysis and commentary
Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes
Partnering with non-finance colleagues across programmes, fundraising and commercial operations
Monitoring grant-funded projects and restricted income
Ensuring compliance with funder reporting requirements
Supporting VAT, Gift Aid and wider tax compliance
Maintaining strong financial controls and improving processes
Assisting with year-end and audit processes
Supporting cashflow management and payment runs
Helping to strengthen systems and reporting processes
This role requires someone comfortable balancing hands-on transactional oversight with higher-level financial analysis and business partnering.
You
This role will suit a proactive and personable finance professional who enjoys working in a mission-led organisation.
You will ideally bring:
Part-qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) or qualified by experience
Strong management accounting experience
Experience in VAT and compliance
Confidence producing reports for non-finance stakeholders
The ability to explain financial information clearly, without jargon
A flexible, responsive approach in a busy environment
Experience supporting or guiding junior finance staff
Charity or non-profit exposure is highly desirable, whether through work or volunteering, as understanding impact-driven organisations is important to the role.
Experience with Sage Intacct would be beneficial but is not essential.
