Speech & Language Therapist – Schools | Autism | Neurodiversity-Affirming | South East London (SE9) A unique opportunity for an HCPC registered Speech & Language Therapist to join a values-led, multidisciplinary school setting supporting autistic students through a neurodiversity-affirming and relationship-based approach. Employment Type Full-time, Permanent – No sponsorship available for this role. You must have the permanent right to work in the UK. This is not a traditional clinic-based SLT role. Instead, this school environment offers the opportunity to deliver meaningful, functional support where it matters most, helping students with social communication, emotional regulation, and day-to-day engagement in education. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team including other SLTs, Occupational Therapists, a drama therapist, and a dyslexia teacher, you will contribute to a holistic model of care focused on real-life outcomes. This role is especially well suited to a paediatric Speech & Language Therapist, autism-focused SLT, or school-based Speech Therapist who values child-led practice, collaboration, and modern therapeutic approaches. This setting does not follow ABA, PBS, or behaviourist-only models, and will appeal to therapists who want to work in a more affirming, relationship-led way. Key Responsibilities Deliver speech and language therapy within a school-based setting Support autistic students with social communication and emotional regulation Develop and implement individualised, functional therapy plans Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team Provide practical, in-class support to students where required Monitor and review student progress and adapt interventions accordingly Engage with teaching staff to embed communication strategies across the school environment Maintain accurate clinical records, reports, and documentation Contribute to a neurodiversity-affirming, relationship-led therapy culture Support a holistic and student-centred approach to care and communication Requirements You must have the permanent right to work in the UK – no sponsorship available Qualified Speech & Language Therapist with HCPC registration, or very close to completion Experience or strong interest in autism, paediatrics, schools, SEN, or SEND settings Understanding of social communication needs within neurodiverse populations Strong clinical reasoning and ability to deliver functional, real-world interventions Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with students, families, and professionals Ability to work independently while contributing confidently to a wider MDT Also suitable for: Paediatric Speech & Language Therapist, SEN Speech Therapist, Autism Specialist SLT, School-Based Speech Therapist, HCPC Registered SLT Company Culture As a Speech & Language Therapist, you will be part of a supportive, forward-thinking team that values collaboration, learning, and genuinely person-centred care.
