Your new company Hays are currently recruiting for a well-established organisation within the energy sector who is seeking a Financial Accountant to join its finance team on a 6‑month contract. Your new role As a Financial Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the organisation through its year‑end reporting cycle. You will take ownership of statutory accounts preparation, audit support, and technical accounting tasks, ensuring accurate and timely financial information. Key Responsibilities: Prepare statutory financial statements in line with relevant accounting standards Support the external audit process, providing schedules, evidence, and explanations as required Produce accurate month‑end and year‑end journals, including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances Assist with group reporting, consolidation activities, and internal reporting deadlines Maintain and enhance financial controls, ensuring compliance with internal policies Prepare audit working papers and year‑end supporting documentation Analyse financial data to support decision‑making and provide insight to management Contribute to process improvements across the financial reporting cycle What you'll need to succeed A recognised accounting qualification or working towards (CA/ACCA/CIMA) or equivalent experience Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience in financial reporting Previous exposure to year‑end processes and external audit Excellent analytical skills with a methodical, detail‑focused approach Confident working with financial systems and advanced Excel skills What you'll get in return Hybrid working arrangement Excellent exposure to the energy industry and senior finance stakeholders Opportunity to develop technical accounting skills in a supportive environment A varied role offering professional growth and valuable contract experience What you need to do now If you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.
