An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Practitioner with a focus on statistics to join DPT to support the delivery of The PATHS Study: Perinatal Mental Health Access and Support. The PATHS Study is an NIHR-funded evaluation of interventions to support parents and co-parents experiencing mental health difficulties during the perinatal period (e.g., during pregnancy and up to two years following birth). The post-holder, under the supervision of senior colleagues, will be responsible for statistical analysis of linked, routine healthcare data from NHS Talking Therapies, maternity, and hospital episodes databases.
The post-holders will need to demonstrate enthusiasm, commitment, and exceptional organisational and communication skills. The post-holder must be able to travel independently as required around Devon.
Fixed term contract until 31st August 2026
Main duties of the job
1. Assist with the analysis and write-up of research using statistical procedures, software, and other IT tools including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
2. Provide support and guidance in applying statistical methods to psychological approaches and techniques, fostering reflective practice.
3. Maintain and build good working relationships with senior staff and managers in the Trust, Kings College, University of Exeter, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and other involved universities.
4. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders involved in the research project.
5. Provide reports, both written and verbal, to trial participants and clinical and research teams regarding research progress.
6. Maintain research databases and conduct statistical analysis of linked electronic healthcare record data in line with the study protocol.
7. Code and update patient databases to report on treatment access and outcomes accurately.
8. Ensure data entry accuracy and compliance with relevant guidelines and regulations.

Person Specification
Planning and Organisational Skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Self-motivated with good prioritisation and planning skills
* Calm and diplomatic under pressure
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and email/internet use
Experience
* Experience analyzing data from psychological assessments and working with multidisciplinary teams
* Experience working with mental health patients and clinical research
Knowledge
* Understanding of clinical data confidentiality and mental health issues
* Knowledge of perinatal mental health and related clinical placements or practice
Qualifications
* Degree in statistics, psychology, or relevant field, or equivalent experience with clinical qualification
